Hey Reader,

We made it!

Tomorrow is 2023, and despite the challenges you likely faced during the year, I hope it's been 365 days full of growth and positive change. At the very least, you made it through with a greater knowledge of experiences you don't want to repeat.

A few standout lessons I learned from the year are:

If you were to pick three lessons from your year, what would they be?

As per usual, below are some pieces of content I found inspirational and/or interesting this month.

Enjoy!

How to Land a Remote Job in 2023

It took me a month of searching, applying, and interviewing to land the remote job I wanted.

That time gave me relevant insights - which I'm hoping you'll find helpful, whether you're in the middle of a job hunt or are just contemplating a change.

20 Unsexy Micro-Habits That Save Me 30 Hours Every Week

Sometimes I'm a sucker for straightforward, list-type blog posts.

This one covers twenty habits that can improve your weekly routines and save you time! Two that stand out to me are Awe Walks and Getting Sunlight After Waking.

Free to Focus: A Total Productivity System to Achieve More by Doing Less - Michael Hyatt

"Productivity should ultimately give you back more time, not require more of you."

After finding a lot of value in reading Michael's previous book, Your Best Year Ever, I decided to give this one a go.

Does it bring revolutionary new ideas to the world of productivity? No, however, Michael does a great job of laying out the latest research and techniques in an easy-to-digest format.

I've also found that even when productivity books repeat similar information, the nuances of each author's writing can present concepts in impactful new ways.

Kindle’s 15-year anniversary is a reminder simplicity is king

The Kindle is such a uniquely minimalist device. It's focused, simple, and never fails to deliver.

It has singlehandedly transformed my reading journey, and it has continued to thrive in a world inundated by tablets, phones, and other devices that also can facilitate reading.

This article is a nod to Kindle's success over the fifteen years (and counting) it's been around.

Hey There 2023!

With the new year arriving tomorrow, you're likely filled with uncertainty and expectation - I know I am.

What's to be done about it?

I'm reminded of compound interest in a time like this. It's not the few percentage points you gain in any one year that matter but rather the accumulation of that interest year after year.

In a similar way, we can take the pressure off 2023 needing to be a perfect year. What if we, instead, worked toward a year that was merely one or two percent better than 2022? And what if, in 2024, we work toward improving one or two percent over 2023?

By focusing on the compounding returns of life changes, we can appreciate the enormous impact small decisions can make.

What action, habit, change, move, pattern, or shift could reap that one percent for you in 2023? Let me know!🙏🏼

Oh, and have a happy new year!

As such, I'm going to keep it short.😌 I'm incredibly glad you're here, and I hope you find at least one of the following things inspirational/impactful as you round out...

I'm writing this from an apartment that is mostly full of boxes and small holes in the wall (don't tell our landlord🤫) - we're moving to a slightly larger space tomorrow (as I alluded to in last week's post), and...
